Built for Mars just got better... 🔥
Four extended articles, 3 new features and 1 major announcement.
Hey 👋,
There's a lot to cover this month, but the obvious omission is that there's no new case study. Instead, I've just dropped a major update of features and extended content.
There are four extended articles, 3 new features and 1 major announcement.
4 extended case studies:
i.e., a newly released 'part 2', at the end of the article—all live right now.
3 new features:
UX Tooltips — psychology on-demand.
UX Cheatsheet — actionable summaries.
Article narration — listen to each study.
1 publication announcement:
UX of Banking; Part 2, is coming in January 2023. In it, we'll cover what's changed in the 18 months since the original, and there will be brand new chapters.
And most surprisingly, the 'leaderboard positions' have been totally shuffled—it's obvious who's been grinding away on product. There's a new top dog in town.
New feature #1: UX Tooltips 🧠
There are hundreds of cognitive biases and psychological levers that influence product design—too many to memorise from a directory.
Introducing: UX Tooltips, which let you dive much deeper into a specific topic, without leaving the case study. Many of these are like mini-articles in themselves.
Over time, they'll become richer and more detailed.
You'll find:
Key findings from research and reputable studies.
Many more examples, across broad industries.
Implementation techniques for your business.
New feature #2: UX Cheatsheet 📝
Whenever I speak to my readers, I hear the same thing: you want Built for Mars research to be more actionable.
That's why you'll now see a handy cheatsheet at the end of the case study.
These include:
Conversations to have internally.
Experiments to try.
Things to avoid.
UX tricks to implement.
And more (it's super dynamic, based on that case study).
New feature #3: Listen to the article 🔈
Let's be honest, text-to-speech services are usually terrible.
But when I stumbled across Speechify, who power Medium's 'listen' functionality, I was instantly sold. It's actually great.
So we've partnered with them to offer all of our readers on-site narration for every case study. Simply click that listen button, sit back, and enjoy—no account needed.
Note: this is not a sponsorship or affiliate of any kind—I genuinely believe it adds value to your reading (listening) experience, and am a fan of their service.
